Hello all and welcome to my brand new webpage! Can we say exciting?
So lets start with an introduction. I am an American who has had the pleasure of living in ever so many different places. I grew up in a big family, can you believe I'm the seventh of nine children? That makes me the original Seven of Nine. If you get that joke, your awesome.
My mom moved us around a ton as a kid which installed in me a wonder-lust. I lived in seven states and who knows how many towns and even went to Canada a few times by the time I graduated high school.
I consider myself an American period. That is my family is not from somewhere else. I can do a blog on this later, but it really is a sticking point. Every one wants to say "so where are you really from?" and can never seem to accept that "I'm an American, my family is from here" answer.
I joined the Marines and got to travel to Japan, Spain, Iraq, and Kuwait. Also lived on a Navy ship and traveled the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean, and Persian Gulf.
After the military I went to college and then onto Hawaii , Virginia, and California for my job. And no, I'm not in a cool place in California. I'm in a super rural spot that is 3 hrs (not 2 hrs like everyone says) from anything remotely interesting and boy-oh-boy does it stink here. Literally. It constantly smells! *sigh*
In addition to the love of travel, I have a love artisan work. I like to do crafts, but to not be craftsy. I try very hard to bring sophistication to my craft work to make it artisan work. I am mostly self taught which is made possible by the huge plethora of how to videos on You Tube. Big shout out and thank you to every how to host!! I knit, crotchet, and am about to learn tatting. I also quilt and do some loom beading.
Food is a huge part of my life and part of my travels. When I went into the Marine Corps I wanted to be a food service specialist. I love food and every thing about it! But I didn't want to make a career of it. I am much happier keeping my cooking skills amateur and providing for family and friends. Thanksgiving Feast is my Superbowl! When ever traveling, I remember the most vividly the food I had. I had duck for the first time in Spain, so very awesome Yakisoba from White Kitchen in Kinville in Okinawa, and Hawaii taught me to to love Spam Musibi.
So that is general gist of who I am and what I am all about. I will be posting blogs here about my interests and my adventures. I have an Esty page where by crafts can be purchased. And I am an Air BnB hostess so you can always come stay with me!
Cheers!
