I have mastered the art of beeking after a one day seminar!!!!
........
Well, no, obviously. But I have become hooked and most definitely want to start taking care of bees immediately if not sooner!
The class was sooo cool! There were knowledgeable beekeepers such as an entomologist who works with Bayer. The Bayer company has a test orchard in the area where they test out herbicides and pesticides. They have a few hives in their orchard - gives me a little more confidence that what they produce is going to be bee friendly.
There was my sensi guru master, John, who got me into all of this. He is so super knowledgeable and is really good at teaching it to you.
After classroom time there was practical application time - now we're cooking!! First hive we broke into was super pissed off. So we let them cool off.
Next two hives were way more chill. The bees just kind of kept doing their thing while we were picking up frames and checking out their home.
I spotted larvae, brood, Honey!!, and the Queen!!
So ya, now I'm super jazzed and want to get my own hive. What is the best approach to take with my husband? Hmm... "Honey, I know I already have a couple of expensive hobbies (quilting, knitting, dining out) but this one could totally pay for itself!" Ya, that should work!
Cheers and happy travels all!
