Having Fun with Trolls

Updated: Nov 3, 2021

Oh trolls, how you amuse me! Let me count the ways.

From the hatred in your black hearts does come the most inane of nonsense.

You hang about the feed of one you profess to hate and despise

for no more purpose then to post and repost your spam

three lame remarks repeated over and over again

schoolyard bullying that takes the brain power of a fly to imagine

Though imagination is not entirely forsaken

there are those smaller gems of humor

where imagined slights are magnified into grandiose harm

Trolls of the POTUS and Biden feeds, thank you for your never ending amusement.

My newest kill time on my daily commute activity is to poke the trolls, typically on Instagram. I follow the POTUS, FLOTUS, and Biden accounts among other liberal and democratic accounts. In the comments sections there are always those trolls who are just so angry with the current president. I have taken to correcting misinformation, asking for evidence when someone makes an accusation, and reporting accounts that violate the forums’ rules. It is fun!

Here's how it goes. I'll get into it with a troll who has posted something other than the same 3 lame taunts, which is hard to find, and discuss or correct whatever accusation or claim they were making. Then these trolls head over to my Instagram account, see’s that is a private account, and instead click on my public website, which brings us here. What inspired this blog post was the one troll who decided to quote to me the abuse that my brother threw at me when I got kicked out of my sister’s house, which was written in a previous blog post of mine. My response? I thanked him for visiting my webpage.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here because I’ve just been so involved in setting up my new life here in Japan. Since I’m getting new traffic, I’ll go ahead and post more.

But I did want to take a minute to go over some of the gems from poking the trolls.

Asking for evidence has been a game changer. Ever want to see someone lose their ability to have a coherent thought and stay on topic? Ask a trumper for evidence to back up their claim or their accusation. It’s hilarious! Lets say a trumper wants to accuse Biden of taking bribes. Ask for evidence for that claim and you get this ridiculous rant about campaign contributions and pay for play. Basically, once you sort through the word salad, you’ve got someone who literally thinks that a legal campaign contribution is a bribe. Okay, you do you I guess, but that ain't how bribes work.

Asking for evidence will get me

  • word salad of all kinds of things a person is angry about and blames everyone else for

  • a response of ‘use your eyes and ears’ or ‘do your research’ or ‘don’t you watch the news’

  • or a personal attack on me for being liberal, a communist, authoritarian, etc. etc.

What asking for evidence will not get is any actual evidence. Not even once. Even when someone tries to put forth some kind of backing for their position, it's easily dismissed as being trash like Biden's son sold a painting so somehow that means Biden is stealing from the people. Please.

I had this one guy try to say that his evidence was 'there's like 30 videos on the internet, just watch them.' To which I responded, are any of those videos fact checked? And this threw him for such a loop! He literally thought that any video on the internet would be valid, like videos aren't easily corrupted or misrepresented. Now that's funny!!

These people are so used to being told something and then just believing it that they literally have no way of dealing with the most simple of requirements when making accusations or statements – to have evidence and verifiable facts to support your position. It’s like no one has ever had to write a research paper in high school using credible sources. The concept of 'just because you say it doesn’t mean it’s true' or 'just because it was in a meme doesn't mean it's true' is completely foreign to these trumper trolls.

And yes, I will continue to lump together all republicans, conservative, and right wing minded folks into the term of trumper. So long as trump is the leader of this group of folks then all folks in this group will be referred to as a trumper. If you don’t want him to be your spokesperson then you need to clean your own house and replace him.

As a fun side note, the English Dictionary has trumpery as meaning "practices or beliefs that are superficially or visually appealing but have little real value or worth" and "delusive or shallow". And the urban dictionary not only has trumper as meaning a supporter of Donald Trump but also "A person who is usually uneducated, ignorant, misogynistic, close minded, racist, sexist, homophobic, white supremacist, conservative, pro-life, anti-poor, pro-war, anti-science and hateful." Best definition by far!

Now in all seriousness, all joking aside, here are the problems with people being floored and unable to cope with a request for evidence for their position or accusation. It shows just how deeply gullible these trumpers are. That they not only just believe whatever they are told by their orange god and his mouth pieces but that it never occurs to them to fact check before accepting what they are told. And then these same gullible followers run around calling anyone who doesn't believe the same as the trumper all kinds of names from sheep to drinking the Kool aid.

So we have this back and forth. They call me a person who believes whatever I'm told. I'm here calling them the same. What's the difference between us? Facts, fact checking, and credible evidence for your position. Using critical thinking to find the difference between a credible fact, a partially true but misrepresented fact, and a complete work of fiction is what is missing from trump-world.

Why should a person provide evidence for their accusation when 'if you just open your eyes you can see I'm right' as one trumper put it? Because the burden of proof lays with the accuser. Because if your going to play with the adults in the arena of politics then you need to provide the support for your position. At no point should anyone just accept an accusation or a position. These things should be challenged. And then the challenge is followed by the defense of position which is where ideas and issues are explored which is public discourse. Something trumpers either never learned or have conveniently forgotten.

For example, I was called a Biden Bot by a trumper. I responded with the accusation that actually, the bot accounts have been shown to be paid for by the Russia Gov and were set up to be trump supporters. The trumper challenged this assertion with the so very clever 'I beg to differ.' So I offered proof. I said, 'Let me refer you to the 2017 joint report from the FBI, NSA, and CIA on the Russia's influence in US elections, and they said that there were some 60K bots paid for by Russia to support trump.' A joint report from the FBI, NSA, and CIA is definitely a credible source. I'm feeling pretty good about my source. But I'm also thinking that she's gonna challenge it, maybe with the old stand-by of 'if it's gov and I don't agree with it then it must be corrupt!' And I'm okay with having the source of my evidence challenged, it's apart of the process, but please, at least have it based in reality. Her response? To private message me the middle finger emoji. Looks like I gave her too much credit. My bad.

And that is the difference between me calling trumpers gullible and them calling me sheep. I have evidence on my side and they have the middle finger.

Ah trumpers, I am amused by you.

So that’s been my new fun activity. Thanks trolls for coming to my blog. Enjoy my stories and don’t forget to head over to my YouTube page for my silly little videos about my life. You can see first hand what it's like to be a liberal. Spoiler, I don't eat children. Cheers!!
